Arnett & Foster, P.L.L.C., Certified Public Accountants (A&F), is a professional limited liability company with offices in Charleston and Lewisburg, West Virginia. Owners of a P.L.L.C. are referred to as Members.

Staff accountants who join the A&F team can look forward to following in the footsteps of our present P.L.L.C. Members. Once selected as a new staff accountant, Arnett & Foster provides you with the support necessary to excel in the job. The P.L.L.C. Members and employees of Arnett & Foster, P.L.L.C. work together closely on engagements. When you are assigned to an engagement, you will learn and develop your skills from the experiences of our senior personnel.

Advancement Opportunities

Advancement can rapidly increase your responsibilities and challenges at A&F. Staff with up to two years experience are assigned various areas of audit and accounting engagements, which generally include full responsibility for compilation engagements and responsibility for full or major portions of audit, review, tax, and consulting engagements. Typically, these engagements include health-care entities, law firms, financial institutions, government units, nonprofit entities, contractor, and other commercial entities. Senior accountants, generally with approximately two-to-five years experience at A&F, have full responsibility for audit, tax and consulting engagements of clients. At each level of responsibility, you are provided supervision to enable you to generate a professional product for our clients.

Supervisors not only have full audit, tax and consulting responsibilities but also train and assign personnel, review all working papers, and supervise a number of engagements at once. Historically, promotion to supervisor comes after three to eight years and to manager after five to ten years, depending on the individual initiative, dedication, and technical competence. At the manager level, you will be representing A&F to the staff, communicating policies, and motivating employees to enhance their performance. You will be expected to assist in practice development and contribute time to community activities.

When you join the A&F team, you encounter a wide variety of assignments. Our clients range from sole proprietorships to consolidated corporations in an array of industries and services.

You will work on many different engagements where you will acquire broad experience in auditing, tax and management advisory services. However, you will not find yourself lost in a large organization. You will benefit from a cooperative culture and team atmosphere designed to help you grow and succeed in your career. You will find direction and guidance and be mentored by some of the most talented professionals in the field.

In addition to obtaining a well-rounded background on a wide variety of engagements, you will be given an opportunity to specialize in areas you might find particularly challenging. For example, after a period of time, the opportunity may arise to specialize in one of the three major disciplines - Audit, Tax or Consulting Services. Within these disciplines, A&F’s diverse client base provides for a wide variety of career options. The diversity in our client base is underscored by the many high profile industries we serve, including financial institutions, health care, legal, manufacturing, nonprofit and governmental, among others.

We boast one of the finest professional educational development programs available, tailored to our mutual needs.

As members of the McGladrey Alliance, we participate in an intensive continuing education program for beginning staff through P.L.L.C. Members. The staff development courses, designed exclusively for McGladrey personnel and their network firm members, enable us to maintain our standards of technical knowledge, management skills and personal communication techniques. Nationally-recognized instructors provide current information and interpretations on critical topics in accounting and auditing, tax, consulting, and in personal development. We also use programs produced by the AICPA, the West Virginia Society of CPAs and many other high quality organizations.

Benefits

The benefits of working at Arnett & Foster are more than a challenging career and a pleasant life. Salaries are competitive with compensation based on your own qualifications and actual performance on the job. Performance evaluations generally occur at the end of each engagement of 80 hours or more to give you immediate feedback on your development. More formal reviews and goal-setting sessions are conducted annually in conjunction with your salary determination. Evaluations are designed as a dialogue to help you reach your career goals. In addition to salaries, A&F is an equal opportunity employer and currently provides its full-time employees with very attractive benefits, including the following:

• All employees are offered coverage under A&F’s major medical hospitalization program at no cost for the individual employee’s coverage.
• A combined profit sharing/401K plan provides for participation after one year of service.
• After 60 days, all employees are covered by short-time and long-term disability insurance that pays 60% of the individual’s monthly earnings after being disabled 90 days.
• Life insurance coverage begins after one month’s employment at A&F. Coverage is approximately three times the employee’s annual salary, with accidental death and dismemberment clauses.
• A&F generally provides seven paid holidays and a paid time off (PTO) policy which allows the employee greater control over the use of their vacation and sick time off.
• A&F pays bonuses as incentives for achieving and exceeding annual chargeable hour targets, developing new clients for the Firm, and for passing the CPA exam.
• A&F maintains a Cafeteria Plan and offers flexible spending accounts for medical and dependent care savings.
• Our policies include additional time off or cash for overnight client travel and flexibility in working hours.
